Welcome to Our World
It looks like Punxsutawney Phil might be losing his edge. The winter has lasted a little longer than he predicted, at least in the Northeast. However, in Missouri, it is starting to look like spring. This has been very good for our coffeehouse project.
Spring is always an exciting season, with both rebirth and new birth. So, it is timely that Ben and Sarah are now first-time aunt and uncle to their nephew, Zane Alexander. (By the way, you know you’re getting old when you have to explain who Zane Grey is.) Zane came a little earlier than expected, but at 7 lbs 10 oz and 19.5 inches long, he must have felt that he had done all of the incubating that was necessary.
Here’s a photo that Ben sent me on my cell phone:

Although I don’t have kids of my own, I’m very familiar with the uncle role. I imagine that it has some similarities to being a grandparent. You get to spoil, tease, enjoy and share advice with them without being saddled with things like dirty diapers or discipline. Ben reports that the family is joyful and that Zane’s parents are both excited and exhausted. My thinking is that they won’t get past either emotion for quite a while.
Till next time,
Marcos
